I ordered new winch covers from Jo Hamilton at Standout Yacht Fittings in Longbranch. She and her husband Bob owned Flaunt, one of the first San Juan 30s. Bob bought her as a hull and deck and finished her out on a low budget. Among the missing were portlights in the deckhouse, fashionable today, but unusual in the mid-70s. Flaunt did several Toliva Shoal races and, when it got going, the early Southern Sound Series as well.

An advantage of ordering from Jo is that she’ll make the covers in any Sunbrella color, ours match the silver in our sail cover, and are specific to the winches on the boat. While I measured ours, she already had the dimensions on hand. The other current vendors I found on the Internet have three or four standard sizes, none a really accurate fit for our winches.

Prices are reasonable, delivery was prompt and the workmanship is good. Her payment policy is unusual for today, she sends you the product and you send her your check promptly after they arrive. She does have a catalog that can be downloaded from standoutyachtfittings.com, and she offers much more than just winch covers. I recommend her as a resource.
