Spring sailboat racing occurs from April to June each year and is open to all PHRF-rated sailboats (or SSSS Club rating) whose skippers are members of the SSSS Club or some other recognized yacht club, provided the race fee is paid. The races are run on designated Saturdays in Budd Inlet and are typically short buoy races determined by the Race Committee. The 1st leg of each race is usually upwind.
This is the sixth year of a two-day race/adventure around Harstine Island starting and finishing at Boston Harbor with an overnight stay at Jarrell’s Cove State Park. The start is June 6th at 0900. Competitors will circle Harstine Island counter-clockwise. Open to boats 20 feet or less with no fixed keel with only wind or human power (penalty for using a motor). There is limited space to shuttle camp gear to and from Jarrell’s Cove. No handicaps, the vessel with the least time for both days is the winner.
Cost is $50 per boat and $10 extra for each crew member. Cost includes hamburger dinner and breakfast, T-shirt, gorgeous scenery and a chance to sleep on your boat or in your tent on the ground. The additional fee for the crew includes meals and camping, with the option of purchasing a Harstine GT Tee designed by one of our local dinghy sailors. 15 boat limit.
Email dinghy@ssssclub.com for an application to register or for questions.

Fall Series Races are longer buoy races in Budd Inlet. The first race starts at 12:00pm. All Skippers must be current members of a recognized yacht club and have paid their racing fees to the SSSS Club. All sailboats participating must have a PHRF rating or a temporary Club rating. All racers must check in before the race with the Race Committee and must call in to the RC Boat if they withdraw before the finish line.
Each boat that intends to race should volunteer for RC duty on Transition one time during the 2025-2026 season. Volunteers should include 2 members of your crew. Plan to meet at the RC boat well ahead of the first start.
