I - 68 identification form

Boaters entering the U.S. who have an I - 68 identification form need not go through customs. They can telephone entry clearance, if the boat and all crew members have this form. You can get the form at the Customs Office in Tacoma.

The Customs Office in Tacoma is at 2202 Port of Tacoma Road, just past Tacoma Screw from I - 5. Their office hours are 0800-1600 daily. They suggest calling ahead for an appointment. The phone number is (253) 593-6336.

To get an I - 68 border pass you will need the following:
  1. 3 passport photos
  2. A photo I.D. of some type, Drivers License should be OK.
  3. Birth Certificate
  4. I don’t have a copy of my birth certificate so I’m going to try my Navy Discharge papers.
  5. $16.00 fee
  6. Boats over 30 feet in length will also need a Customs Decal that costs $25.00.
