PORTSMOUTH YARDSTICK

This is the system we use to score Thursday Night Races. It is performance based, like PHRF; that is it uses race results to figure handicaps. It is maintained by USSA.
It assumes the boats meet their class rules, so there is no need to measure them.
We use the variable handicaps. That means each boat has four different handicaps, one for each of four wind strengths, measured in Beaufort Numbers.

The formula we use to figure results is:

Corrected Time = (Elapsed Time / Handicap) * 100


That is (Et / H)*100 = Ct, or, Et*(100 / H) = Ct,
