South Sound Sailing Society Handbook

Reciprocal Membership

Reciprocal moorage is an important benefit of SSSS Membership. Many yacht clubs throughout Puget Sound and British Columbia participate with South Sound Sailing Society in a reciprocal moorage program. They extend to SSSS Members the complimentary use of their facilities. SSSS returns the favor and assumes the cost of their stays at Percival Landing here in Olympia. This program of reciprocity broadens the cruising opportunities to boaters throughout Puget Sound and BC. The camaraderie and communication this reciprocal moorage affords our club is highly valued by SSSS Members.

Every yacht club defines the terms of its reciprocal agreement. Typically, it includes free moorage at designated slips or docks, access to the clubhouse, and use of other shoreside facilities. Space is usually limited. Details for each yacht club are spelled out in the Reciprocal Moorage Guide.

Remember that you are a representative of South Sound Sailing Society when you visit these clubs. Please fly your SSSS burgee, usually required. Register upon arrival and represent our club well while you are their guest.

These clubs have specifically invited our use of their facilities. Include them in your travel plans. See if you can visit all of the clubs in one summer! You can recoup your annual membership dues with just one or two nights at some of these places. And you’ll have an excellent excuse to explore new areas and make new sailing friends as you work your way through the various clubs. Enjoy!

Reciprocal Membership Guide

The yacht clubs listed in our Reciprocal Guide have extended the privileges of the use of their facilities to South Sound Sailing Society Members. The Guide has the reciprocal information on the front of the page and the applicable chartlet on the back of the page. Remember that these charlets are for your general information and are not intended for navigation purposes.

The descriptions in this booklet were provided by each yacht club. As changes are made, the information in this handbook will be updated. Hours, costs, and privileges are subject to change without notice, however, and whatever rules are in place at the yacht club on your arrival will apply. Unless otherwise stated, guest moorage is offered on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis. Please notify the Cruise Chair if essential information has changed from what is printed in this Handbook.

SSSS has reciprocal moorage agreements with the following clubs as of June 2010, listed alphabetically. Those with a Y under the name have their own docks. It is thanks to our Cruise Chair, Mark Welpman, that this year’s list has grown since last year.

Enjoy this benefit of SSSS Membership. And don’t forget to share your travel experiences and tips through the Ship-to-Shore.
