The Racing Rules of Sailing for 2009-2012 are now available at a SSSS Member discounted rate of $15. This is the USSA member price, however they will add shipping charges.
While most of the rules will be familiar there are some important changes that apply at marks and obstructions. As noted by Jim Capron, President of the US Sailing Association, “Racing sailors, especially those who drive the boat, need to know the rights and obligations of their boat in any situation, and be able to apply them without hesitation.”
One of the primary contributors to the Racing Rules, Dick Rose, will conduct a special session on the new rules January 21. Get your new book before then and brush up on the changes to get the most out of this opportunity. Copies will be available at the January Meeting and also at the Rules Review session.
