South Sound Sailing Societys
This trophy is to be presented annually to the South Sound Sailing Society boat deemed, by the Trophy Committee, to have improved her performance on the racecourse the most over the past year.
Each winners name is to be engraved on the trophy, which remains the property of SSSS.
The Trophy Committee shall consist of the RC Chair, the Assistant RC Chair, and the Class Captains for all active Classes. They may appoint one more SSSS Member to their Committee, if it is deemed desirable to have an odd number of members on the Committee. The RC Chair shall chair the Trophy Committee. Each member of the Committee shall have one vote.
The Trophy Committee shall solicit nominations for this award from the general Membership. They shall then choose a winner from amongst the nominations. They shall report their choice to the RC by May 15.
Guide Lines for Choosing the Winner
This award is to go to the boat that has improved the most over the past SSSS year, May to May.
We are looking for improvement in the skills of the skipper and crew demonstrated over time, as opposed to one spectacular race or series.
Wining a lot of races is not a requirement for this award. We recognize that it can be an accomplishment to lose a permanent claim to last place, an accomplishment that may not be generally recognized.
This award is to go to a boat for improvements demonstrated while racing with SSSS.
While performance down Sound may be taken into account, particularly the Southern Sound Series, it should not be the primary reason for awarding this trophy. The other events have their own trophies, awarded by those who witnessed those events.
Ultimately, the choice rests with the Trophy Committee.
