Thursday Night Racing

July 11, 1996

As it is getting to be time to start Thursday Night Racing again, I thought I would post some photos to remind you of how much fun it is, sailing in the long warm summer evenings. I hope you like them.

It was our turn to be RC boat. As a power boat would be useful and expeienced help is always nice, I asked Eric Egge if he would come. And bring his boat, a beautiful classic wooden runabout. He and Todd Tindell did such a good job of running the races I was free to take these photos.

We anchored over the mud flats just North of KGY and drew a crowd of boats, including the Hobie 16, Canadian Laker, Soling, and Star shown.

The wind was officailly light, Force 0 to 2 Beaufort, but the boats were moving well. I say officailly light as the handcaps in our system, the Portsmouth Yardstick, vary with wind strength. This race was scored using light air handicaps.

A little after 1830 hrs. we started the racing. See the photos.

If you do not have the patience for the whole show, but would like to see the photos of your boat, check out the list of photos.

If you would like to see the results for the night, they will be posted till we start racing again.
If you care to look, we have a chart of the racing area.
