View from the RC Boat
Fall Sunday Series Race 1

September 14 1996

We were to be RC boat. So we powered out to the Olympia Shoal, Mark 4, well before the start. As the wind was good, Force 3 to 4 from the south, we anchored there, setting the line square to the wind.

Flasher was sailing around us before the start. Dark Star is behind them in this photo.

We flew the Black, Orange, and Green flags for Course 4 BOG. This is a windward / leeward, several times around, course that starts upwind and finishes with a run. It goes out and back the length of Budd Inlet, twice, plus a trip to and from Olympia Shoal. This totals 16.9 nm; but it was windy, and we had options to shorten.

The Marks are: start 4 then 5A5 9A5 finish 4, all to port except 9 — the RC boat, us, anchored near Mark 4.
