Honoring Ray Gilespie

At the Awards Banquet this past June, the Toliva Race Committee had the honor of presenting to Ray Gilespie, a plaque honoring him for his forty years of service at the Toliva Shoal Race. It reads:
“This award is presented to Ray Gillespie in appreciation for his 40 years of dedication to providing mentorship and leadership to the youth of the South Sound through his efforts with the Sea Scouts. And volunteering to be at each and every Toliva Shoal Race providing a secure environment for the racers the past 40 years. We, the members of the sailing community, humbly thank you for these selfless acts. ”

It was my privilege to nominate Ray for this award. The plaque given to him is just a small token to express the gratitude felt by the race committees that he has given untold hours of time.
