Questionnaire Results

Remember, you do not have to wait till asked to voice your opinion. Talk to, or even write, the person in charge of any SSSS program you have an opinion about. Or go to a RC meeting with suggestions about the race program, or a Board Meeting with suggestions about how the Club is run. You will be heard. Or write the Membership care of the S-t-S.

This tabulation is as of April 21,1998. 30 have been returned.

Who Responded

Most respondents race. 19 of the 30 race their own boats and 8 crew for others. Two race, but not here with us.
Only one is a new Member. 4 are newer Members, two to three years. 25 have been Members for at least four years, 12 of those are long time Members.
About half took the time to write comments.

Regattas / LifeSling Class

6 respondents raced in the Thirty and Under Regattas. They would like to do so again; 6 others would like to join them. Most want to race both spring and summer, when ever the weather is decent.
11 respondents wanted a LifeSling Class this spring. [We held one for them.]

Why Don’t You Race Your Boat?

Most respondents do race, so only 6 filled out this section. Two do not feel they know enough to race.
1 does not race because he has crew problems, his wife won’t race.
Three respondents worried that their boats are uncompetitively slow and do not race for that reason.

Racing

All but 2 of the 24 respondents are at least satisfied with the racing program. 12 are very satisfied with it, one found it perfect.
Over half found our mix of races about right, and the other half was split four to five between more buoy races or more longer races.
A four race Islands Series is preferred 17 to 4.
The McHerron Race is preferred in the spring, 19 to 3.
15 want to race Wednesday nights in August, 7 do not.
15 would participate in a team race.
6 would like more races on Sunday, 17 prefer Saturday.

Use of the Clubhouse, our Web Page?

20 respondents use the Clubhouse. Two thirds!?
All but 2 looked upped race results. Sixty per cent use the Calendar. A little more than a third of them read the S-t-S On-line. A little less than a third of them visited the Toliva Shoal Office and the same number the Cruise Office. Only one out of six visited the RC Office; the same number visited the Bar. Two people also commented that the weather links are a useful feature.
The 10 that do not use the Clubhouse are not on line.

We want to thank everyone who took the time to fill out the questionnaire. Hopefully it will lead to a program more to your liking.
