SSSS’s Southern Sound Series Council Rep. Reports

A CLEAN SWEEP!!! South Sound Sailing Society sailors took home all of the perpetual trophies for the 2006-2007 Southern Sound Series races! Winning both perpetual trophies by the same club does not often happen.

Scott Awalt, Sugar Magnolia skipper, was awarded the Southern Sound Series Overall Perpetual Trophy. Scott had the best overall score in his class for the four races of the Series. He had three first places and one second in class.

The Winter Challenge Trophy is a Team Perpetual Trophy awarded to the team of three sailboats who have the lowest, best, cumulative over all score for all four races. The team of Bodacious, skipper J Rosenbach, Something Special, skipper Glenn Cowling, and Gadzooks, skipper Gary Marten, won the hardware this year. Gary Martin, with Gadzooks and his earlier boat Precocious, has been on a winning team at least four times!

The trophies were presented at the October Meeting by our Commodore, Thera Black. They will be displayed in our Trophy Case at Westbay. Each skipper will receive a photo of the trophy mounted on a foam back to display at home or on their boat.
