General Meeting- May: Cruising to Alaska
Our General SSSS meeting on May 19 will feature Kim Turver’s trip in 2014 from Puget Sound to Southeast Alaska. He will highlight the route they took and the many beautiful things they saw along the way.
Kim and his bought their first boat in 1993 and began “Boat Camping” with their two kids. They all enjoyed being on the water and explored many places including the San Juan Islands and the Canadian Gulf Islands. Over time their boats got bigger, and their kids grew up and moved away. In 2008, he earned his 50-ton Master’s License. After retiring, one of their dreams was to travel the Inside Passage to Southeast Alaska. During the Seattle Boat Show in December of 2013, they signed up with a guide who was taking a group of boats on the Inside Passage beginning in May of 2014. It was a wonderful trip that they will never forget.
Meeting Details: Doors of the Olympia Yacht Club at 201 Simmons St. NW will open at 6:45 pm and the General meeting will begin at 7:00 pm.
