Find Crew / Find a Boat

Do you want to crew on a racing or cruising sailboat? Or, maybe you are a racing skipper that needs crew? Join our crew finder forum here: Find Crew / Find a Boat

Availability, reliability, and willingness to learn are the most important quality for new crew!  Experienced skippers and other crew will teach you what you need to know. Spending time on a race boat is the best way to hone your sailing skills in our unique PNW conditions.

If you have questions, or want to discuss a good fit for your particular skills and experience, please fill out the form below. A member of our race committee will reach out. Non-SSSS members can still be crew, but you should come to a SSSS Club monthly general meeting and introduce yourself – or better yet, join the Club!

  1. I don’t have a boat but I’m available to crew. I live in downtown Oly and can get to those marinas within 10 minutes. In terms of experience, I just took the OCS adult sailing course as a refresher. Prior to that: crewed on a sailboat from New Zealand to Japan in 2005 (2 month trip), and a tall ship doing day sails out of Traverse City MI for a college summer in 2002, and a 10-day tall ship sail around Cape Cod as a highschooler. I originally learned to sail as a teenager via windsurfing.

  2. Hello SSSS members,
If you are a boat owner and want to get started racing in our club, or if you are already racing but need to add to your crew, please contact me at rcchair@ssssclub.com.

We’ll get your boat listed on our “Boat looking for crew” page that’s presently under construction.

If you don’t own a boat but think you might like to give racing a try, fill out the “Available to crew” form to add your name to that list.

And you can always contact me via email to potentially speed up the process of finding a boat to crew on.
    Thanks,
    Tucker Smyth

  3. I’ve been single-handing dingys most of my adult life on small lakes in the north east. I am interested in dingy racing, crewing on casual cruisers and crewing during racing. I am now retired and am available most days.

this summer I bought and am now refurbishing a 17ft thistle sailboat. Once I have my boat sea worthy I’ll be looking for crew.

  4. I’d like to find a ride for the South Sound Series and maybe some of the local races in Olympia. I’ve been racing and sailing for many years. Lasers, Lidos, Finns, Thistles, J105s, offshore (5 times to Hawaii) and PHRF on Puget Sound.
