The fall starts off Sept. 24-26, 2021 with the traditional “Commodores’ Cruise” at Vaughn Bay on Case Inlet. Weather permitting, we can potluck on the beach Saturday at 1800. If this is your first trip to Vaughn, there are a couple of shoals to watch out for. Follow the north shore for 200 yards after entering in midchannel off the end of the spit, then cross the bay parallel with the spit at a distance of 200 yards, heading toward the south shore, then follow the south shore at a distance of 200 yards, steering toward the head of the bay. Don’t worry, it’s easier than it sounds.

If in doubt, follow another cruiser or hail on VHF Channel 72. Someone will pilot you in.

The bay is protected with good holding, but not a lot of swing room so rafting is encouraged. If your anchor skills are “rusty” shout out — another member will be glad to help!
